The latest video from the Electric GT (EGT) Championship, the world’s first 100% zero-emissions GT championship, provides a detailed look at the car selected for the inaugural season, the EGT Tesla V2.0.
Based on the P100DL, the race-prepared car is capable of doing 0-100 km/h in 2.1 seconds, three-tenths quicker than the production version. Pirelli’s P Zero slick and wet tyres have been specially engineered to deal with the impressive 778 bhp (585 kW) and 995 Nm torque produced by the P100DL 2.0.
The 100 kWh Lithium-ion battery is the largest in motorsport, allowing it to travel around 90 km on a single charge at racing speed. With 500kg shed and increased downforce, resulting from the front splitter and rear-wing, EGT’s P100DL has better grip through the corners.
Double steel wishbone pushrod operated suspension and dual circuit, single pedal hydraulic race brakes have also been added to further improve cornering speeds. The EGT Tesla P100DL 2.0 is in the final stages of development and will continue to go through tests ahead of the 2017 campaign.
It was an enjoyable debut at the Autosport Show for the Electric GT (EGT) Championship, the world’s first 100% zero-emissions GT championship, as exclusive announcements were made and the race-prepared Tesla Model S starred in front of a fervent audience for the first time.
The car performed in 13 Live Action Arena shows with Olivier Lombard, Ricardo Teixeira and EGT technical director Agustin Payá, at the wheel across the four days.
Exhibiting at stand 6250, opposite tyre partners Pirelli, an incredible 1000 fans were treated to a 4D virtual reality experience of a lap in the passenger’s seat of the Tesla Model S which will contest the EGT Championship.
Detailed performance data for the EGT Tesla V2.0, based on the P100DL, was revealed for the first time. 500kgs will be removed from the production model, meaning the modified car is capable of doing 0-100 km/h in 2.1 seconds. It will produce 778 BHP and 995 Nm of torque.
Also announced was the concept of running e-races alongside the actual event. Gaming will play a crucial part in EGT’s global Racing experience, with drivers from around the world coming along to rounds where they can compete for the ultímate prize of getting behind the wheel of a race-prepared Tesla Model S.
Electric GT CEO Mark Gemmell said: “It was a fantastic event for us to be able to debut our car and talk to everyone interested out there. Firstly, it’s great to have Oliver Lombard and George Richardson on-board with us and we were delighted with how much support they’ve given the series.
“We felt it was a good opportunity to also exclusively reveal the performance data for the EGT V2.0 based on the P100DL, there’s some really amazing stats in there and I think quite a few people were surprised when they saw them!
“Gaming is also something we’ve been increasingly looking into, as we want the EGT Championship to not just be an event you can go and watch, but a series that anyone can get involved with. I’m very excited for the next few months.”

Sportel is one of the key events for global Sports and Media, and took place over 4 days in the spectacular Mediterranean city of Monte Carlo. Our car was on display there where all were welcome to find out more about our Championship and about the Age of Light.
We were honored to receive a generous visit from His Highness Prince Albert (himself a Tesla Mdoel S owner too) where our CEO, Mark Gemmell had the chance to show the car and explain the importance of inspiring the change to electric transport through motorsport.
At 16.30 on the opening day, 24th October, our CEO, Mark Gemmell presented the Championship in a 30 minute talk in the main Conference Room.
In conjunction with Sportel we also provided a fleet of four Tesla Model S's to transport VIPs between Monaco and Nice airport.
