Biography: Yeung Tak Felix is one of the few Hong Kong Racing Kart Drivers with KZ shifter kart race experience
today. He began entering official races with Rotax Max Senior machines during mid-2015. Having
developed an interest in motor racing at a very young age from watching the 1993 Macau Grand Prix,
Felix only decided to get behind the wheel of a racing machine after completing his tertiary education
in Vancouver, Canada and achieving financial independence. Introduced to the sport of karting via
guided learning since 2012, he has been steadily making progress along the way, thanks to
mentorship from the great people he met during the years and the determination to become a
Professional Racing Driver of Hong Kong origin.
Career highlights: Felix has recorded a highest finish in 5th at the 5th round of the 2017 AAMC Karting Championship, KZ Cup. He also finished P4 in Class B at the 2nd round of 2017 Hong Kong Karting Championship with X30 engine. Felix is the first and only Motorsport Intern in Hong Kong, having won a city-wide
competition organised by Sun Hung Kai Properties, BlackArts Racing, and British racer Dan Wells with 300 entries. This gave Felix a test drive in a Formula Renault at Zhuhai International Circuit, and a visit with Changan Ford Racing Team at a Chinese Touring Car Championship Round watching from behind-the-scene.
Early career: Felix’s experience as a driver is that after finishing his undergraduate programme in Vancouver, B.C., he returned to Hong Kong trying to get into Motorsports as a racing driver. Since there are no race tracks in Hong Kong, information about the industry is limited and basically every time he wanted to
do anything with racing he has to cross a border with customs. The closest tracks are in nearby cities like Macau, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen: they are either a ferry trip or a few hours' ride away.
After a lengthy research he started his journey with a then startup racing school Hong Kong Racing School for Motorsports in 2012 where he learned the basics in driving via indoor karting and rental KT100's. Felix also had his first Rotax Max experience with them. After some practices he did a year and a half racing intensively with rental KT100's 2013-2014 and later got into Rotax Max senior class thanks to Felix’s current team RPM Karting in Macau at the end of 2014. He did a total of 6 weekends in Rotax from 2015-2016 and went on to race a KZ at the end of 2016. Now he has done 6 race weekends in KZ at national events organised by Automobile General Association Macao-China(AAMC): the very same organiser of the Macau Grand Prix. Felix has also entered two race weekends at the 2017 Hong Kong Karting Championship, racing in the 100cc class at Round 1, and X30 Class B at Round 2.
